Benefits

Participating in performing arts can offer a wide range of benefits for children from disadvantaged backgrounds:

1. Self-Expression and Creativity: Performing arts provide a platform for children to express themselves creatively, explore their emotions, and develop their own unique voice.

2. Confidence Building: Through performing in front of others, children gain confidence in themselves and their abilities. This newfound confidence can extend to other areas of their lives, such as academics and social interactions.

3. Social Skills Development: Participating in group activities like rehearsals and performances fosters teamwork, cooperation, and communication skills. It also provides opportunities for children to make friends and develop supportive relationships with peers and mentors.

4. Emotional Well-being: Engaging in performing arts can boost children's emotional well-being by providing an outlet for stress, anxiety, and negative emotions. It can also increase feelings of happiness, fulfilment, and self-worth.

5. Cognitive Development: Learning lines, choreography, music, and stage directions can improve children's memory, concentration, and cognitive abilities. It also encourages problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

6. Cultural Awareness and Appreciation: Exposure to different forms of performing arts introduces children to diverse cultures, traditions, and perspectives, fostering empathy, tolerance, and appreciation for diversity.

7. Academic Improvement: Research suggests that involvement in performing arts can lead to improved academic performance, particularly in areas such as literacy, numeracy, and creative thinking.

8. Resilience Building: Overcoming challenges and setbacks inherent in performing arts, such as stage fright or mistakes during a performance, helps children develop resilience and perseverance.

9. Sense of Achievement: Successfully learning and performing a piece of music, dance, or drama can provide children with a sense of accomplishment and pride in their abilities.

Overall, engaging in performing arts activities can have a transformative impact on the lives of children from disadvantaged families, providing them with valuable skills, experiences, and opportunities for personal growth and development.

Our 12 Week Course

WestEnd Flamingo Wings offers a 12-week program that unites disadvantaged youths for weekly sessions in dance acting or singing. Throughout the 12 weeks, skills and technique are developed culminating with a class presentation or a performance. During this, children showcase their newfound skills, express their creativity, and commemorate their progress. Additionally, they can foster connections beyond their classes, cultivate new friendships, and craft joyful experiences together.

Our 12 Month Course

In our 12-month course, young people delve deeper into their performing arts journey while fostering and strengthening meaningful relationships with their peers. The program includes weekly classes and performance opportunities throughout the year.

Additionally, this equips children and teenagers with valuable skills like confidence-building, enhancing their educational achievements and employability. These experiences help young people create joyful memories, strengthen existing bonds, and form new friendships.
